Asia Cup 2023: Men in Blue rule the points table; occupy top spot, run rate highest

New Delhi: Team India’s menacing victory against Pakistan in the first Super 4 encounter of Asia Cup tournament has put the former at top of points tally. The super-show by Men in Blue against Pakistan not just propelled it to top rankings but consolidated its position in the group.

Team India’s astounding victory over Pakistan brought a big change in points tally. The Men in Blue are now the ‘reigning kings’ with 2 points from 1 match while team run’s rate has jumped to whopping +4.5.

The closest rival in points tally is Sri Lanka, which also has 2 points from 1 match but the run rate at a meagre 0.42.

Pakistan & Bangladesh, the other teams in Asia Cup Super 4 stage, rank at bottom of the table with their run rate in the negative.

How India jumped to top of charts

Rohit Sharma-led Indian team tamed the Pakistani side by winning the ODI match with a record margin of 228 runs. The first day of India-Pak match got abandoned due to rains. The reserve day saw Indian team in sublime form and batters in devastating form. Riding on Kohli & K L Rahul’s tons, Team India set a target of 357 runs against Pakistan.

While Kohli and KL Rahul smashed boundaries & sixes to reach their centuries, Pakistani openers wobbled in the beginning and continued to collapse at quick intervals. The whole Men in Green team got all out for 128 runs.
