Asia Cup 2023, Super 4: India vs Pakistan match to have reserve day, announces PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board gave the update about the reserve day being added to India vs Pakistan.

New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board, through their post on social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter) that the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match between India and Pakistan will have a reserve day.

The match, which is scheduled to take place on September 10 at Colombo’s R Premadasa, Stadium, will be having a reserve day on September 11, as according to the early weather reports, there is a 90 per cent chance that the rain will be playing the spoil sports once again.

India vs Pakistan, the Super 4 match, is going to be the only match in the Super 4 stage as the organizers of the tournament would not want to have a match of such a caliber end in no contest second time in a row in the same tournament.

Earlier, the India vs Pakistan epic clash, which was scheduled on September 2, was washed out without a single ball being bowled in the second innings, leaving the fans disappointed and sad.

Before the match was called off because of rain, the Pakistani bowlers gave team India a harsh reality check to their battling lineup.

The bowling duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf wreaked havoc on the Indian top order, reducing them to 66 for 4 inside the first powerplay.

India, with the help of Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87), tried to script a comeback, but could only manage to put up a par total of 266 on the board.

Interestingly, Pakistan, who has already won their first match in the Super 4, will be looking to win the game and ensure their place in the finals.

On the other hand, the men in blue will be looking to overcome the horrors of the last edition, where they were knocked out of the Super 4 after losing out to Pakistan and the eventual winners Sri Lanka.
