Australia tour of India 2023: BCCI to announce squad for the ODI series on September 18

India will be coming off motivated after their dominant performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup finals.

New Delhi: Almost 24 hours after their dominant show of skills against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 finals, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and the BCCI selection committee Chief Ajit Agarkar, will be holding a joint press conference to announce the 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia later this month.

The primary question which everyone will be having will be, whether Rohit Sharma would like to go with the same squad that represented India in the Asia Cup and will also be representing the team in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, later this year or will they rest their main players to manage their workload management.

If the sources are to be trusted, players like Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and the skipper Rohit Sharma will be rested to keep them fresh for the all-important ODI World Cup 2023.

The series will also decide the fate of injury-bound Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, who are currently on the sidelines due to injury. Washington Sundar replaced injured Axar Patel in the Asia Cup finals against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The squad announcement will be done at 08:30 p.m. Hrs, IST, in a press conference addressing the media personnel.

Notably, India will be playing a three-match ODI series against Australia at home, starting September 24.

Earlier, India lifted the Asia Cup title for a record-extending eighth time after defeating Sri Lanka comfortably by 10 wickets, with the help of Mohammed Siraj’s dream spell of 6 for 21.
