BCCI puts Virat Kohli on ‘rest’ for T20I series against West Indies, sparks meme fest

Kohli is going through a rough phase in his cricket career, with a disappointing performance in IPL 2022 and T20I series against England

New Delhi: Indian squad for the upcoming five-match series against West Indies has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday.

Though it was very much expected, it is now official that former India captain Virat Kohli has been put on a ‘rest’ by the cricket board and will not be a part of the T20I squad for the series set to be held in Caribbean island.

Interestingly, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah have been put on a rest too, while skipper Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul will be missing the tour owing to fitness.

Despite the non-availability of several known faces, the absence of Kohli raised eyebrows and further triggered a meme fest on social media as per the custom. As soon as the news surfaced, #Dropped began trending top on the microblogging site Twitter.
