New Delhi: BCCI Honorary Secretary Jay Shah, on September 5, presented the “Super Star of the Millennium,” Amitabh Bachchan, with the golden ticket for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, in India later this year.
Amitabh Bachchan is given the award as a sign of respect from BCCI for his continuous enthusiasm toward cricket.
Amitabh is a long-time sports fan, with cricket being his favourite of them all. He was even announced as the league ambassador for the Legends Cricket League, a cricket league for retired cricketers in 2021.
Evidently, the love for sports runs inside the Bachchan bloodline, as Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek also being a sports buff. Abhishek even owns teams in two of the major sports leagues in India. He currently owns Jaipur Pink Panthers, in the Pro Kabaddi League and Chennaiyan FC, in the Indian Super League.
Keeping all this in mind presenting Amitabh with a Golden Ticket makes sense from BCCI. This can also be seen as a promotional move for the ICC ODI World Cup, which is going to happen only in India for the first time in history.
