New Delhi: Despite being a strong title contender, Pakistan has been eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024 in the group stages. Netizens took over the internet, trolling Babar and Co. for their poor performance.
The ICC T20 World Cup is almost over with the group stages. Now the tournament will go on to the next part, Super 8. For the first time, 20 teams participated in the T20 World Cup tournament. A total of 4 groups were made A, B, C, and D each group consisting of 5 teams. The top 2 teams qualified for the Super 8 round from each group.
The qualifying teams are
Group A: India and USA
Group B: Australia and England
Group C: Afghanistan and West Indies
lastly from Group D: South Africa has qualified while Bangladesh and Netherlands are still fighting for the one spot left.
To everyone’s surprise Pakistan, a cricket-mad nation was defeated by the debutants USA, To make situations worse in their second match Pakistani team lost to the arch-rivals India, despite propelling towards a convincing victory. To keep Hopes alive Pakistan needed to win the remaining 2 games against Canada and Ireland.
However, even if the Men in Green managed to conquer the 2 opponents, to qualify they needed Ireland to Defeat USA by a good margin. But the game was washed-out helping USA to leap forward and into the Super 8.
To sum up, poor performance and lack of intent got Babar and Co. eliminated from the tournament. Netizens flooded the internet with memes and reactions trolling Pakistani team over the great upset.
