New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and skipper, Sunil Gavaskar did not hold back while criticising the most popular cricket fan group, ‘Bharat Army’ for their disrespect towards the Indian Flag. In a recent interview with ABC Sport, Sunil Gavaskar remarked:
I would request the Bharat Army not to have their group’s name on the India flag. Design a new flag of your own. If you design a new flag of your own, I will myself wear it with great pleasure…

Gavaskar has now urged the popular fan base to remove the names ‘Bharat’ and ‘Army’ from the flag and design a new one. While Gavaskar’s comments come from patriotism, Indian law also forbids such an action by any group or any individual.
According to section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971:
The national flag shall not be used as a portion of costume or uniform or accessory of any description which is worn below the waist of any person nor shall it be embroidered or printed on cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, undergarments or any dress material…
‘Kohli special’ in Optus!
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli produced a magical performance to notch up his 30th century in test cricket after a long wait of 491 days. Kohli carried on the score from the humongous opening stand between KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, with the latter reaching a well-deserved 150 (161 off 297).
Kohli and Jaiswal’s exploits on Day 3 left Pat Cummins and co-starring down the barrel in the first Test. Post the departure of Jaiswal, the Australian bowlers were whacked hard by a young all-rounder, Nitish Reddy who made sure that the Indian lead went past 500.
India has not put a foot wrong after being bundled out for 150 in the first innings. First, Jasprit Bumrah decided to step up as the captain as he took five wickets to bundle out Australia for 104 in the first innings and now the men in Blue have a lead of 522. Moreover, Australia has lost 3 wickets for a paltry score of 12 runs and has been pushed back in the first test at Perth.
