Paras Mhambrey, who helped Arshdeep train for the game, asked about his pre-match preparation. Arshdeep praised his coach’s decision to take a break and work on his fitness. He was asked whether he expected the amount of swing he got in the match. The pacer replied that there was not much swing in the recent games that he played so he does not go in the game expecting the ball to swing. He added that if the pitch offers some movement then it is an added advantage.

Arshdeep also said that he does not have any milestones in his mind, he just likes to deliver what the team wants. Finishing the interview, Arshdeep gave the credit for his success to Mhambrey.

In the game, Arshdeep followed Deepak Chahar’s footsteps who got India a good start after dismissing the Proteas captain Temba Bavuma in the first over. Quinton de Kock was unable to read Arshdeep’s swinging delivery and was dismissed off an inside edge. He also dismissed Rilee Rossouw and David Miller on duck in the same over. South Africa ended with 106/8 before Suryakumar Yadav blasted 50* off 33 and KL Rahul anchored the inning with his 51* off 56 balls to chase the total in 16.4 overs.
