‘Didn’t do much to earn it…’: Cameron Green opens up about getting Rs 17.5 crore in IPL auctions

He said that he was shaking after the final bid in the auction but his teammates and their humour has kept him grounded.

New Delhi: Cameron Green is having a great end to 2022 as he was bought for Rs 17.5 crore in the IPL auctions and he picked his maiden five-wicket haul in the Test match against South Africa. Green, for the first time, opened up about getting such as massive IPL deal from Mumbai Indians. Humbly, he said he didn’t do much to earn it.

After day 1 of the Boxing Day Test, Cameron Green spoke about getting the second-highest bid in the history of IPL and said he has not done much in T20s to earn the deal, he just put his name into the auction, and it happened. He added that it does not change him and his cricket. He said that he was shaking after the final bid in the auction but his teammates and their humour has kept him grounded.

The 23-year-old Aussie all-rounder was bought by MI after a long bidding battle with Delhi Capitals. While Green has been the star player of his national team his T20I figures are not that great. He has scored 139 runs in eight T20Is and has bagged five wickets in total. On the other hand, in T20s he averages 16.33 with the bat. In the later half of the year, he has proven himself as a T20 batter who can even open the inning and can bowl a few overs.

In the Test match, he picked up five wickets to limit the Proteas to 189. While Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jensen scored half-centuries, South Africa has not been able to put in a great total. Australia is currently playing at 45/1, with a trail of 144 runs.
