Dubai’s Madame Tussauds unveils Virat Kohli’s wax statue ahead of T20 WC; Pic goes viral

Virat Kohli’s wax statue at Dubai’s Madame Tussauds have been unveiled ahead of T20 World Cup.

New Delhi: London’s famous Madame Tussauds opened its first outpost in Dubai on October 14 with the expectation to attract millions of tourists in the upcoming Expo 2020. But what has started gathering attention is the wax statue of India skipper Virat Kohli.

This marks the second wax statue of Virat Kohli as the first was inaugurated at the Lord’s Cricket Ground ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The picture of the statue has gone viral all over the web and netizens and fans are loving the statue and sharing it with a beautiful caption.

Dubai’s Madame Tussauds is home to 60 sculptures of global personalities including The Queen of England, former American President Donald Trump, footballer David Beckham, action star Jackie Chan, footballer Lionel Messi, actor Tom Cruise and more. Apart from these, 15 wax statues are of regional stars such as Lebanese pop stars Nancy Ajram and Maya Diab.

“We have opened our doors on the 14th of October this year very close to Expo 2020,” said Sanaz Kollsrud, general manager of Dubai’s Madame Tussauds.

“We expect many visitors locally and internationally to come in. We have chosen the talents that are relevant and popular in the region,” she added.

Madame Tussauds in London has 250 wax sculptures that draw millions of tourists and visitors all across the world annually. It has smaller branches in United States, Europe, and Asia.

Meanwhile, India has defeated England by 7 wickets in their opening warm-up game at Dubai on Monday. During the toss session, Kohli has mentioned that in the T20 World Cup this year, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma will be opening the matches for them.

“Things were different before IPL started and now KL Rahul is playing the way he is, so it’s very hard to look past him at top of the order,” said Kohli. “Rohit is a no-brainer. He has been a world-class player right at the top of the order for us. I will be batting at three.”
