Fan held for pitch invasion & hugging Virat Kohli, welcomed with garlands by his friends

Earlier the reports that came out stated that strict actions would be taken against the fan, but was later released on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Indian citizens are considered to be the most passionate cricket fans around the world, as they worship the sport as a religion and their cricketing stars as gods.

There are many players who are so popular that their fans are ready to take whatever risk they can to get one moment together with their idol.

One such cricketer is the Indian batting virtuoso Virat Kohli, as recently one of Virat Kohli’s fans decided to invade the pitch during the second T20I match of the three-match T20I series against the Afghanistan cricket team.

The Indoor police later detained the invader, and was finally released from jail on Tuesday.

Interestingly, the fan after getting released by the police, received a warm welcome from his friends and was even felicitated with garlands.

The reaction of his friends is shocking but still very intriguing for cricket fans around the nation.

In the second T20I match of the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, the men in blue were bowling first in Indoor’s Holkar Stadium.

During over number 18 of the Afghanistan innings, a fan decided to invade the pitch to meet his idol, Virat Kohli. Kohli also hugged the fan back before being separated by the security, but not before the star cricketer asked the security to be gentle with the fan.

Police verified the young man who had entered the field at Holkar Stadium during a cricket match was questioned after apprehending him.

An official clarified that the individual, who appeared to be an ardent follower of Virat Kohli, had a valid ticket when he entered the stadium and had climbed the barrier of the fans’ gallery in an effort to meet the player.
