Former Indian cricketer and a long-time friend of Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli has been admitted to a private hospital in Thane district.

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and a long-time friend of Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli has been admitted to a private hospital in Thane district. According to preliminary medical investigations the left-hand former Indian batter initially complained of urinary infection and cramps following which he was admitted to the hospital in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi town on Saturday.

However, after a series of examinations the medical team supervising him at Akruti Hospital found clots in his brain, Trivedi informed. Kambli’s health is being constantly monitored and the team will carry out additional medical examinations on Tuesday, the doctor said.

The 52-year-old was brought to the hospital by one of his fans who is also the owner of the hospital in Bhiwandi’s Kalher area in Thane. The exact reasons for his hospitalisation aren’t yet known.

Kambli, who played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India between 1993-2000, made his first public appearance when he attended the inauguration of legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar’s memorial at Shivaji Park, alongside Sachin Tendulkar.
