New Delhi: The Indian cricket team has been torn apart by the critics after the shambolic performance that it displayed in the 3-match series that took place against New Zealand. One of the major problems that have cropped up is that the Indian players who are known for playing spin well have been struggling in familiar pitches.
Even stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not able to break the web spun by left-arm spinners- Ajaz Patel and Mitchell Santner. India’s front-foot defence was so horrible and pathetic that legendary skipper and former India player Kapil Dev suggested that the only way for the batters to improve is by practising constantly.
Furthermore, speaking at the Cricket Next, Kapil said that:
Go back to the basics. Practice and practice and practice. If you say I will improve by sitting in the room, then it is not going to happen. If you are going through a rough time, just practice more. The more you practice, the better it will be for you…
Ricky Ponting is confident of a 3-1 sweep!
Meanwhile, former Australian skipper and player Ricky Ponting has come out with an audacious statement that the Aussies are confident in dishing out a 3-1 thumping to the visitors. Ponting also added that it will be difficult for India to claim 20 wickets in a particular match owing to the absence of Mohammed Shami from the Test Series.
