Harvinder Singh and Preethi Pal set to become the flagbearer of Paris Paralympics 2024

New Delhi: Para Archer Harvinder Singh and para sprinter Preethi Pal will be India’s flag-bearers for the Paris Paralympics 2024 closing ceremony. Talking about the opportunity Harvinder said-

Winning gold for India has been a dream come true, and now leading our nation as a flag-bearer at the closing ceremony is the highest honour I could imagine,” Harvinder said. This victory is for everyone who believed in me, and I hope to inspire many more to pursue their dreams.

Earlier, Harvinder scripted history by becoming the first archer to win a gold medal in the Paralympics. India’s performance in recurve has been a big let down with the Indian contingent faltering both in the Olympics and Paralympics. However, Harvinder has not only broken that jinx but also won India’s first gold medal in recurve.

Meanwhile, India’s other flag bearer, Preethi Pal scripted history as she bagged the first Paralympic medal in track and field for India. Preethi Pal has won bronze in women’s 100m and 200m races at the T35 category in the Paris Paralympics 2024. Apart from the glittering medal, Preethi also set a personal best record of 14.21 seconds in the 100m event and 30..01 seconds in the 200 m event. Now, as she has been bestowed with yet another duty, the 23-year-old remarked with a smiling face-
