ICC Champions Trophy 2025: PCB blames Indian politicians for estranged sporting relations

Pakistan Cricket Board has hit out against the BCCI for its decision to not send the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made an official statement criticising the Indian bureaucracy and the higher-ups especially the politicians for the estranged relationships between BCCI and PCB. This remark comes against the backdrop of BCCI deciding to not send the Indian national team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

According to ICC rules, the next year’s ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan. The PCB is naturally making all the arrangements required to conduct the tournament. However, BCCI has decided to pull out of the competition in the penultimate minute owing to security concerns.

India and Pakistan have a historical standoff due to their past political conflicts. Subsequently, the Indian cricket team has not travelled to its immediate neighbours for any bilateral starting from 2008. Now, that things look even more precarious, the chances of the Indian team travelling to Pakistan are slim.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office points out fingers at Indian bureaucracy!

Amidst this brewing controversy and pulsating tension between the two sides, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has come out and criticised the Indian bureaucracy for this unnecessary tension. What’s unsettling for most of the Indian fans is that the top leadership of Pakistan has decided to address situations which do not fall under the ambit of cricket.

As seen from this post, the Foreign Office of Pakistan decided to bring in references to “Kashmir and Palestine and terrorism” which do not concern the gamut of cricket. Naturally, this act of PCB has been seen as too irresponsible by BCCI and criticised by the cricketing fraternity. Now, as the controversy between the two sides persists, all eyes will be on BCCI for the next move in this controversy.
