ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024: Full Fixtures of tournament announced, both India and Pakistan in Group A

ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024: The inaugural champions India will be seen locking horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9, in New York.

New Delhi: The fixtures of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024, has been finally announced on Friday, as the inaugural champions India has been once again drawn in the same group with their arch-rivals, Pakistan, i.e., Group A.

India and Pakistan will be in Group A, along with Canada, USA and Ireland. The tournament will begin from June 1, with the group stage matches taking place from June 1 to June 18, while the Super 8, will take place from June 19 to June 24.

The semifinals are scheduled to take place on June 26 and June 27, while June 29 is reserved for the finals.

The new format

The ICC T20I World Cup 2024 will be ditching its old format, which was in practice till the 2022 World Cup, as the total number of teams has increased from 12 to 20 this time.

In the new format four groups of five teams will be made, with the top two teams from each group getting the qualification for the Super 8 round.

The Super 8 round will once again have two groups of four teams, with the top two teams from each group making their way to the semifinals.

Finally, the winner of the two semifinals will meet in the finals to crown the ultimate winners of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024.

India’s fixtures

Indian team

The Indian team will begin their campaign against the Irish side, as the two will lock horns on June 5, in New York. India will then play their arch-rivals Pakistan and then USA on June 9 and June 12, respectively in New York, before heading out for Florida to play their final group stage match against Canada on June 15.

The 20 teams are divided into four groups of five according to the new format.

Group A: India, Pakistan, USA, Canada and Ireland

Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman

Group C: West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea

Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal
