Rohit and his victorious team will return with the shining ICC T20 World Cup trophy in the early hours of July 4th.

New Delhi: Rohit and his victorious team will return with the shining T20 World Cup trophy in the early hours of July 4th. The entire transportation has been arranged by the BCCI as the players leave Barbados on a chartered plane. Earlier, Rohit and Co. were scheduled to leave Barbados on Sunday after winning the cup.

However, due to adverse climatic conditions and the deadly hurricane that struck Barbados, the Indian team got stuck in the Caribbean. The men in blue are currently staying indoors in the team hotel to avoid any adverse circumstances from unfolding. According to the BCCI, the players are expected to be felicitated by the Indian Prime Minister once they return to India.

Alongside the Indian team, all the media personalities who have been stranded in Barbados will also board the flight to come back to India. The Boeing 777 which had earlier taken the team from New Jersey to the Caribbean is expected to make the long journey back home.

“We hope, and we’re working towards later today…” Mia Mottley

The Barbadian Prime Minister, Mia Mottley has assured all the stranded people and BCCI that the Grantley Adams International Airport which is the international airport in the island nation will be functional soon. Mottley anticipated that the airport would be functional within “6-12 hours” once the category 4 hurricane subsided.

“We hope, and we’re working towards later today. I don’t want to speak in advance of it, but I’ve literally been in touch with the airport personnel and they’re doing their last checks now and we want to resume normal operations as a matter of urgency.”

Mia further added “There are a number of people who were due to leave yet last night late or today or tomorrow morning. And we want to make sure that we can facilitate those persons, so I would anticipate that within the next six to 12 hours the airport will be open.”
