New Delhi: The Australian cricket team defeated the hosts India in the ICC World Cup 2023 finals by 6 wickets to win their record sixth World Cup title at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
India’s dream to win their third title in front of their home crowd got crushed when Glenn Maxwell pushed Siraj’s last ball on the 43rd over to the deep covers to take Australia over the lines.
India batting first put a sub-par total of 241 on the board, courtesy of fifties from KL Rahul (66) and Virat Kohli (54).
Mitchell Starc was Australia’s best bowler of the day, with three wickets under his name.
In the chase, with the help of Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschange (58*), chased down the target with 6 wickets and 42 balls to spare.
