ICC World Cup 2023, IND vs AUS Final: Travis Head and Mitchell Starc shines as Australia lifts their 6th World Cup title

India lost the ICC World Cup finals to Australia for the second time in World Cup history.

New Delhi: The Australian team have won their sixth World Cup title in an attacking manner after defeating India by six wickets in the finals.

Australia came out to chase the 241-run target given by India and started the innings in an attacking manner.

But soon lost 3 wickets inside the ten-over mark, getting India back in the match.

However, Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschange (58*) added 192 runs for the fourth wicket to take Australia home with six wickets and 42 balls to spare.

In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets and Md. Shami and Md. Siraj took one wicket each, for India.

Earlier, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and invited Rohit and company to bat first.

India started aggressively but lost Shubman Gill (4) and Rohit Sharma (47) inside the 10-over mark.

Last match, centurion Shreyas Iyer (4) also departed early, putting India on the back foot.

Virat Kohli (54), alongside KL Rahul, tried to revive the Indian innings, but he was also played down by Australian skipper Pat Cummins, after adding 67 runs for the 4th wicket.

KL Rahul (66) then stitched a partnership with Ravindra Jadeja (9) and Surya Kumar Yadav (18) to take India across the 200-run mark.

Md. Siraj (9*) and Kuldeep Yadav (10) added a crucial 14 runs for the last wicket to finish the innings with 240 all-out in 50 over

Mitchell Starc was the pick of the day in bowling, with 3 wickets under his name. Skipper Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood picked up 2 wickets each, while Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa got one wicket each.
