ICC World Cup 2023: India suffers a major blow, as the injured Hardik Pandya gets ruled out of the tournament

Pacer Prasidh Krishna joins the team as the replacement.

New Delhi: The hosts India suffered a major blow in their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign as their star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, has been ruled out from the rest of the tournament.

Karnataka-based fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been named as the replacement for Pandya.

Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury while bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh, earlier in the tournament.

The injury was initially reported as not serious, and Hardik was expected to join the team after one match break.

However, the recovery didn’t go as anticipated, resulting in India’s start all-rounder getting ruled out from the entirety of the tournament.

India will definitely feel the blow of this loss as Pandya is a wicket-taking bowler and often plays in the team as their sixth bowling option. He is also a great pinch-hitting batter down the order who also helps the team to extend their batting line-up.

India will now have to play with 6 batsmen and 5 regular bowlers going forward in the tournament, which will definitely not be in the initial plans of the team management going into the tournament.
