ICC World Cup 2023, IND vs BAN: Virat Kohli and Subhman Gill stars as India defeats Bangladesh by 7 wickets

Virat Kohli gets his 48th ODI century and is now only one behind Sachin’s 49 ODI century record.

New Delhi: India continues their unbeaten run at the ICC 2023 World Cup, as they defeat Bangladesh with 7 wickets and 51 balls to spare.

In reply to the target of Bangladesh’s 257 runs target, India once again started off in a strong manner, adding 88 runs for the first wicket.

After Rohit Sharma (48) got out off Hasan Mahmud, Virat Kohli joined Subhman Gill in the middle, taking India to a comfortable situation before Subhman Gill (53) got caught on the boundary.

Shreyas Iyer (19) started well but couldn’t convert his start as he also got caught on the boundary off Mehidy Hasan’s bowling.

However, Virat Kohli once again led India with his century innings of 103* alongside KL Rahu(12*) to take India home in the 42nd over.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was Bangladesh’s best bowler with 2 wickets, while Hasan Mahmud got one wicket under his name.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Bangladesh’s stand-in captain, Najmul Hasan Shanto, decided to bat first.

The Bangladeshi openers proved their captain’s decision correct by adding 93 runs for the first wicket.

Tanzid Hasan (51) goes down to Kuldeep as soon as he gets his maiden ODI fifty.

Linton Das also completed his 12th ODI fifty but took 82 balls for his 66 runs innings.

India, after the drinks, kept the Bangladeshi run rate in check by taking wickets at constant intervals.

In the end, with the help of handy cameos from Mushfiqur Rahim (38) and Mahmudullah (46), Bangladesh finished the innings with a total of 256 on the board.

Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Md. Siraj took 2 wickets each, while Kuldeep and Shardul also got one wicket each under their name.
