IND v AUS: Mitchell Starc, Marsh, Stoinis to miss India tour due to injuries, check Australia’s updated squad

Pace bowler Mitchell Starc and all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis will miss the three-match T20I series due to low-level injuries.

New Delhi: There is an update to Australia’s squad announced a couple of weeks back for the India tour. Pace bowler Mitchell Starc and all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis will miss the three-match T20I series due to low-level injuries. It is clear that the management does not want to risk anything before the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia.

Mitchell Marsh did not play the second and third ODIs against Zimbabwe and the three ODIs against New Zealand because of an ankle injury, while Stoinis picked up a side injury during the second ODI against New Zealand. Just before the team’s departure, Starc’s knee injury came up as a blow to the side.

Nathan Ellis, Daniel Sams and Sean Abbott have been called-up to replace the injured players. Marsh was expected to return for the India tour, but it was decided that he must rest looking at the travel and fatigue the series would involve.

Meanwhile, David Warner is also rested for the series and Cameroon Green is getting a chance in the T20Is. This means that India will not be facing Australia’s first-choice playing XI in the series. In Stoinis’ absence, it is a good chance for Australia to try some combinations with Tim David, who is a new entry into the side.

India and Australia will play a three-match T20I series starting on September 20 in Mohali. The second game will be played on September 23 in Nagpur while the last one will feature in Hyderabad on September 25.

Australia’s squad: Aaron Finch (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Nathan Ellis, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Daniel Sams, Sean Abbott, Matthew Wade, David Warner Adam Zampa, Cameron Green
