IND vs AUS: From Sachin Tendulkar to Suryakumar Yadav, check list of Indian batters to register 3 consecutive ducks in ODIs

Two lbws by Mitchell Starc and a bowled by Ashton Agar made him the first Indian batter to register three consecutive golden ducks in the 50-over format.

New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav, who was in tremendous form in T20Is, suffered three golden ducks in the ODI series against Australia. Two lbws by Mitchell Starc and a bowled by Ashton Agar made him the first Indian batter to register three consecutive golden ducks in the 50-over format. With this, he has joined the list of Indian batters with a hat trick of ducks, which also includes the name of the veteran batter Sachin Tendulkar.

In the first and the second ODIs, Suryakumar was dismissed by inswinging deliveries by Mitchell Starc that went on to hit his pads. In the third ODI, Agar’s delivery kept low while the Indian batter was completely beaten to get bowled. His wickets in crucial match situations did cost India the series as Australia won the decider.

Internationally, Suryakumar Yadav is the 14th batter to register three golden ducks in ODIs. The first one was New Zealand’s Tony Blain in 1986 and the last one was Blessing Muzarabani of Zimbabwe. The list also includes the likes of Vusi Sibanda, Shane Watson and Andrew Symonds.

In the game, Australia posted 269 with multiple contributions. Mitchell Marsh with his run-a-ball 47 and Travis Head with 33 off 31 were clinical in getting a good start. While Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav dismantled the battling line-up with three wickets each, the 42-run stand between Sean Abbott and Ashton Agar for the eighth wicket made the difference.

For India, Virat Kohli scored a fifty and Hardik Pandya scored 40 off 40, but in vain as Adam Zampa’s 4-wicket haul restricted India to 248.
