IND VS SA, Test Series: Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of ODI series, Abhimanyu Easwaran comes in as replacement

The 28- year-old, Bengal cricketer Abhimanyu Easwaran, has been named as Ruturaj Gaikwad’s replacement in India’s test squad.

New Delhi: The young Indian batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, has been ruled out of the two test match series against South Africa, starting December 26, after picking up an injury during the ODI series.

The 26-year-old had a forgettable outing in the ‘Rainbow Nation,’ as despite being the only player to be picked up for all three formats, Gaikwad was unable to find a place in the playing XI, during the T20I series, while only able to score nine runs in two ODI, before picking up the injury while fielding, ruling him out for the rest of the tour.

The official statement has been made by the honourary secretary of the BCCI, Mr Jay Shah, through an official media advisory.

In the advisory, Mr Shah informs the unfortunate withdrawal of the CSK star after picking up a fielding injury while fielding during the second ODI against the Proteas at Gqeberha.

The advisory also contains information about Harshit Rana’s withdrawal from the India A squad, who will face South Africa A, after picking a hamstring injury.
