Ravindra Jadeja Dropped: Does Gautam Gambhir prefer Axar Patel over Ravindra Jadeja?

According to a report of ESPNCricinfo, it was clarified that star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was not dropped from the side for the upcoming tour.

New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja who recently retired from the T20I side following a successful run in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Barbados has not featured on the list of players travelling to Sri Lanka. Jadeja who has 2576 runs and 220 wickets in 197 ODIs has turned out to be the main spinner in white ball cricket for India over the years.

So, alongside T20Is is it over for Jaddu in the ODIs as well? The BCCI and the chief selectors have reiterated and reassured the fanbase that Jadeja is only ‘rested’ and not ‘dropped’ from the side. According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, the selectors said the current arrangement is only ‘temporary’. Furthermore, the report stated that having Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja will lead to a ‘surplus’ in the ODI side.

Moreover, Jadeja has also been a reliable bowling and batting option in the Test setup. Naturally, Jaddu is expected to play a major contribution in the upcoming tours, especially the Australia tour down under where India had scripted a memorable last time. India is set to play 10 tests- five at home and five in Australia where the service of Jadeja will be imperative for a win. Subsequently, the Indian officials took the hard call to rest the 35-year-old all-rounder for the upcoming tour.
