IPL 2022: Shreyas Iyer most expensive buy so far, KKR bags him for Rs 12.25 crore

The bidding war to buy Iyer was between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Gujarat Titans.

New Delhi: The IPL 2022 mega auction began in Bengaluru on Saturday. In the beginning, the Marquee players were auctioned. In the list of marquee players, eight players from India and overseas, were purchased. However, Indian batter Shreyas Iyer surpassed all contenders to get purchased for Rs 12.25 core.

Iyer will play the IPL 2022 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The bidding war to buy Iyer was between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Gujarat Titans.

Ranking of players who were bought in the marquee list:

 1) India batter Shreyas Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 12.25 crore.

2)South African right-arm fast bowler Kagiso Rabada was purchased by Punjab Kings for Rs 9.25 crore.

3)India opener Shikhar Dhawan on Saturday was picked by Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore.

4)Trent Boult who belongs to New Zealand went to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8 crore.

5)Australia pacer Pat Cummins was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 7.25 crore in the auction.

6)South Africa batter Faf du Plessis was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7 crore.

7)Quinton de Kock was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 6.75 crore.

8)Australia opening batter David Warner was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore.

9)Mohammed Shami, famous as India’s fast bowler, was purchased by Gujarat Titans for Rs 6.25.

10)Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5 crore.

A total of 600 cricketers will go under the hammer in the auction that will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

INR 2 crore is the highest reserve price and as many as 48 players chose to place themselves in this bracket.

There are 20 players on the auction list with a reserve price of INR 1.5 crore while 34 players are on the list of cricketers with a reserve price of INR 1 crore.

A total of 377 Indian players and 223 overseas players are up for grabs in what promises to be an action-packed IPL 2022 Player Auction in Bengaluru.
