IPL 2023 wrap: Who won what & how much money? List of winners & prize amount

CSK became the IPL champion for record 5th time while GT was adjudged the runner-up. CSK, IPL 2023 winner was awarded with Rs 20 crore while the runner-up GT was given Rs 15 crore as prize money.

New Delhi: The curtains have finally come down on 16th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) with a cliffhanger match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) last night.

The cricket’s biggest extravaganza saw league & playoff matches for over a month, with 10 teams vying for the coveted trophy. At the end, it was Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led CSK which won the top honors in IPL 2023. Dhoni’s team, having bagged title a couple of times, again went to become IPL champions for 5th time, highest by any team in 16 years of tournament.

The nail-biter match between CSK & GT, though got affected by rains at the Narendra Modi stadium, provided thrilling moments to fans, as GT posted its highest ever total in the tournament and Dhoni’s team pulled the master-class heroics in last over to win the match.

In the final match, played on the reserve day for IPL final, Hardik Pandya posted a big total of 224 runs but the rains played spoilsport following which the target was reduced to 171 runs in 15 overs. CSK opening line-up earned it lead in the game while in the last over, it was Ravindra Jadeja’s heroics which had the stadium cheering & clapping for CSK.

Apart from this, a number of individual honours & awards were handed over at the IPL closing ceremony.

Orange Cap

Shubman Gill, whose blistering knocks in the season enthralled the cricket fans, was award Orange Cap. The GT opener scored a total of 890 runs on back of his smashing knocks and thus walked away with Orange Cap award.

Purple Cap:

Mohammed Shami won the prestigious Purple Cap award with his brilliant display of fierce bowling and claiming 28 wickets in total during the tournament.

Both Orange Cap & Purple Cap winners were reportedly awarded with Rs 10 lakh cash prize. Ajinkya Rahane was awarded the ‘Fairplay of the Season award’ while Yashasi Jaiswal won the Emerging player of tournament award (entailing a reward of Rs 10 lakh).
