IPL 2024 Auction: 333 players shortlisted for the mini auction, Head and Starc qualified for the INR 2 crore salary cap

The auction will take place on December 19, in Dubai.

New Delhi: The final shortlist of 333 players who would be put up for auction at the IPL auction in front of the lucrative 2024 season was released by the IPL governing body.

Of the 333 players, 214 are Indian, and the 77 available seats will likely be up for grabs in the largest mini-auction in memory. Two players are from the Associate nations, leaving 333 players total—116 capped players and 215 uncapped players.

Thirteen players fall into the INR 1.5 crore bracket, while 23 players have enrolled in the top base price band of INR 2 crore.

Players categorized into sets

In the first group of batters are players like Travis Head, Manish Pandey, Harry Brook, and Steve Smith, and in the all-rounder category are players like Pat Cummins, Gerald Coetzee, Shardul Thakur, Rachin Ravindra, and Harshal Patel.

Along with players like Josh Hazlewood, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi, and Dilshan Madushanka of Sri Lanka, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc will be in the fourth set for the fast bowlers.

Among the five names in the third group of wicketkeepers are Josh Inglis, Phil Salt, and KS Bharat, who is the sole Indian.

In the fifth set, the two best spinners with base prices of INR 2 crore are Mujeeb ur Rahman and Adil Rashid.

Slots left for teams

Kolkata Knight Riders have the most number of slots to fill, i.e., 12, followed by Delhi Capital with nine slots, and Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants, with eight slots open.

Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants have the least number of spots left to fill, which is only six.
