Here are the biggest foreign buys of IPL 2024 auctions

New Delhi: Cricket fans from across the globe stayed glued to their screens throughout the day as the much-awaited auction of IPL 2024 was finally held in Dubai’s Cola Arena on Tuesday.

In a total of 19  sets of the mini-auction, fans saw a number of famous foreign names attracting humungous amounts of money by sparking intense bidding wars on the auction table. However, these 6 overseas players stood out from the rest and became the most expensive players after being bagged by the franchises at a whopping price.

Biggest foreign buys of IPL 2024 auctions 

1. Mitchell Starc (24.75)

After igniting the biggest bidding war in the history of the tournament between 4 major franchises (Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders Delhi Capitals & Mumbai Indians), Aussie star left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc became the costliest player of the Indian Premier League and was bought at a monumental price of Rs 24.75 crore by KKR.

Starc outperformed his captain Pat Cummins, who earlier received a bid of 20.5 crores by SRH to become the most expensive player of the IPL for the time being.

The World Cup-winning Australian Captian Pat Cummins became the second biggest buy in the history of IPL. He was sold at a remarkable price of 20.5 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad who bought the paceman after defeating RCB in the second biggest bidding war of the day as well as the tournament’s history.

3. Daryl Mitchell (14 crore)

Kiwi Batman Daryl Mitchell, who had an exceptional World Cup earlier this year, saw himself becoming the third costliest foreign cricketer in the IPL 2024 auction.

After a huge contest between CSK and PKBS on the auction table, Mitchell was finally picked by CSK at a thumping price of Rs 14 crore.

 4. Alzarri Joseph (11.50 crore)

West Indian pacer, who was recently released by his former franchise Gujarat Titans, turned out to be the 4th most costliest foreign player in IPL 2024 auctions.

He was acquired by Royal Challengers Banglore who outbid Lucknow Super Giants and pulled in the cricketer to their side with a remarks price of Ra 11.50 crore.

5. Rowman Powell (7.40 Crore)

The aggressive West-Indian batsman was been roped in by Rajasthan Royals at a colossal price of Rs 7.40 crore after an intense bidding war with Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders. He is the 5th highest bid of today’s auctions.

6. Travis Head (6.80 crore)

Australian opener Trivias Head, who smashed a match-winning century against India in the CWC 2023 final was bagged in by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a decent price of 6.80 crore.

The Orange Army roped in the star cricket to their side by edging MS Dhoni’s CSK which fought hard to get him to their team but eventually gave in to SRH’s stubbornness in the end.
