Amid Heath Streak death reports, Henry Olonga confrims Zimbabwe cricket great is ‘very much alive’

Former Zimbabwean cricketer calls the rumors of his old teammate’s death going around fake through his post on social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter).

New Delhi: The cricket fraternity was in shock on Wednesday when they learned that the former Zimbabwean captain and legend Heath Streak’s death at the age of 49.

While everyone started to pay their tribute to the legend and the internet started to flood with news about Heath’s death and his life. Henry Olonga, the former teammate of Heath through his post on X confirms that Heath is very much alive and well.

Henry shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with his former teammate and long-time friend Heath confirming his death rumors were fake and putting the end to the confusion around Heath’s death. Henry was even seen joking with Heath about his death rumors saying, “This thing grew leg quickly. You died overnight brother”.

Henry earlier paid his tribute to Heath on his now-deleted post on X saying, ‘Sad news coming through that Heath Streak has crossed to the other side. RIP Zimbabwe cricket legend’. But later he tweeted again replacing the post with his updated one.

Notably, Heath Streak represented Zimbabwe in 65 tests and 189 ODI’s between 1993 and 2005 before announcing his retirement in 2005. He also captained Zimbabwe between 2000 and 2004 and was also appointed as coach for both Zimbabwe and Bangladesh national teams.
