New Delhi: After Suryakumar Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj, wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan has also reportedly quit the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Although no official reason has come from the player about his absence from the Duleep Trophy campaign, sources have confirmed that Kishan picked up a hamstring injury which forced him out of the side. In the absence of Kishan, KS Bharat remains the only keeping option for the India D squad led by Shreyas Iyer.
The India D squad will play the tournament opener against the India C side led by Ruturaj Gaikwad in Anantapur. Furthermore, according to the popular cricket website, cricbuzz; Sanju Samson is reportedly set to be drafted in the squad in place of Ishan Kishan.
Ishan’s miss will be felt dearly by the entire India D squad. The left-hander is an emerging and exciting cricketing prospect in the current Indian circuit. Moreover, plenty of speculations were expected around Kishan given the performance that he had shown in the past.
Duleep Trophy has turned out to be an important red-ball cricket tournament for many players who are playing in the Indian circuit. Naturally, Ishan Kishan was also expected to make the most out of it given that the upcoming tour of Bangladesh is set to kick in towards the end of the month.
