Jasprit Bumrah begins rehab at NCA, Shreyas Iyer to undergo lower back surgery next week

Bumrah has commenced his post-surgery rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru while Iyer is set to undergo surgery for his lower back next week.

New Delhi: BCCI shared the medical updates for two of India’s ace cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer. Bumrah has commenced his post-surgery rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru while Iyer is set to undergo surgery for his lower back next week. The batter will be joining NCA for rehab after his back surgery.

BCCI informed the fans that pacer Bumrah underwent successful surgery in New Zealand on his lower back and he remains pain-free. He began his rehab at NCA on April 14, Friday. The pacer has missed the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup in 2022 and is unlikely to be part of the World Test Championship Final against Australia. Bumrah was also ruled out of the IPL 2023.

On the other hand, Iyer recently injured his lower back during the Test series between India and Australia and while he was reluctant to undergo surgery, the batter decided to have surgery next week. The official statement said that Iyer will remain under the surgeon’s care for two weeks, followed by rehabilitation at NCA.

Shreyas Iyer test

Shreyas Iyer, with his given form, provided stability to the Indian batting line-up at number 4 and that spot once again has a question mark before the World Cup. He was KKR’s skipper and him being ruled out of the IPL came as a big blow to the franchise and they decided to go with Nitish Rana as the captain. Iyer will also be missing the WTC final and his inclusion in the World Cup squad depends on his recovery.
