New Delhi: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar defended pacer Arshdeep Singh on the trolling for the dropped catch against Pakistan. He gave a smashing reply to the trolls and people going for personal attacks against the young pacer. Tendulkar, himself has suffered such personal attacks throughout his career and a statement coming from him means a lot to the cricketing arena.

The batter shared a tweet and said, “Every athlete representing the country gives their best and plays for the nation always. They need our constant support & remember, that in sports you win some & you lose some. Let’s keep cricket or any other sport free from personal attacks. @arshdeepsinghh keep working hard..” Attaching a threaded tweet to it, he asked Arshdeep Singh to answer the trolls by his performance on the field.

In the Super 4 match against Pakistan, Arshdeep Singh dropped Asif Ali in the 18th over, when the batter was facing his first ball. Ravi Bishnoi bowled against Asif when he miss-hit the ball to short third man. It was an easy catch coming into the hands, but a minor lapse in concentration or maybe some other reason led to a dropped catch. It cost India as Asif Ali went on to play a crucial 16-run knock in just 8 balls.

After the game, Arshdeep was trolled heavily on the internet and even his Wikipedia page was edited to write ‘Khalistani’. Many cricketers and fans came in his support and asked everyone to keep the spirit of the game alive.

In the match, Arshdeep conceded 27 runs in 3.5 overs and also dismissed Asif Ali with a cracking yorker in the final over. Bowling the 20th over, he needed to defend seven runs. With a wicket on the fourth ball, he took the game deep where two runs were needed from two balls and eventually Iftikhar hit the winning runs.
