New Delhi: Mohammed Shami replaced Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Squad. The name was announced by All-India Senior Selection Committee.
Ahead of the warm-up matches, the player has reached Australia and will link up with the squad in Brisbane.
Also, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur have been named as backups and will travel to Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah who is suffering a stress reaction during the T20I leg of the series against South Africa was a massive blow to Team India ahead of the T20 WC.
Currently, the main squad for the global cricketing is in Perth where they have undergone a one-week training camp to up their skills and also a practice match against Western Australia.
The final decision on Shammi’s decision was made after his fitness was assessed.
Since the previous edition of ICC T20 World Cup in November, 2021, Mohammed Shami did not play any T20I cricket.
After recovering from COVID-19, Mohammed Shami was training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
