New Delhi: Chevrons stunned the cricket world on Thursday as it won over strong opponent Pakistan by one run in Super 12 stage in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe chose to bat first in the match and dominated the clash’s initial stage, which took place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Though, Pak was able to make an impressive comeback, summing up the high-spirited Chevrons to 130/8. The men in green needed just three runs off the last delivery with fast bowler Shaheen Afridi on the striker end. However, Afridi failed to garner the required runs as his long shot was restricted by Sikandar Raza, who passed the ball to wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva, who successfully run out the latter after some fumble.
Cricket fans from across the globe congratulated and lauded the Chevrons for their memorable performance against much experienced Pak, while the stunning victory became fooder for numerous memes.
Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa congratulated his team and took a dig at Pak over comedian Asif Muhammad (Mr Bean’s doppelganger) who had arrived in the country posing as real Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson).
Former India batter Virender Sehwag and Amit Mishra were also quick to praise the winner while taking a jibe at the neighbours.

Remarkably, the time between Regis Chakabva dropping the ball and breaking the stumps was clocked at 4 days and 17 hours, and still somehow it feels longer

And do not call this an upset. It’d be disrespectful to @ZimCricketv who’ve played so well and deserve all the respect and praise. Pic unrelated ? #PAKvZIM #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/RDxKasz05p— Wasim Jaffer (@WasimJaffer14) October 27, 2022
