MS Dhoni won’t charge any fee for mentoring Team India in T20 World Cup

The former ‘captain cool’ was handpicked as mentor by the cricket board last month, when it announced the squad for the mega-event.

New Delhi: Call it love for the nation or setting up a precedent, former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has said that he will not charge any fees from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for mentoring Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“MS Dhoni is not charging any honorarium for his services as the mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah told a news agency.

The former ‘captain cool’ was handpicked as mentor by the cricket board last month, when it announced the squad for the mega-event.

The 40-year-old cricketer hung up his boots from from the international cricket last year. His last India game was the 2019 World Cup semi-final, which the team lost to New Zealand.

One of the most successful captains in the history of Indian cricket, the enigmatic wicketkeeper-batter led India to two world titles — the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and the 2011 ODI World Cup in India.

The T20 World Cup is scheduled to start from October 17. Team India will start its campaign in the upcoming T20 World Cup against Pakistan on October 24.
