New Delhi: Olympian and Javelin champion Neeraj Chopra created history on Sunday by winning country’s first gold medal at World Athletics Championship. While the wrestler and the countrymen bask in his glorious achievements, a touching gesture by the javelin thrower is wining the hearts of hundreds & thousands of netizens, including the Pakistani Twitter handles.

The ‘golden boy’ in a heartwarming gesture asked his arch Pakistani rival Arshad Nadeem to join him while he celebrated his marvelous achievement. And, the latter obliged despite getting defeated by him in the javelin throw. The duo were clicked together by cameraman & shutterbugs.

In the video that surfaced, Neeraj Chopra could be seen holding the Tricolour. He gives a call to Arshad Nadeem who joins him in the photo-op.

Earlier on Sunday, Neeraj Chopra became the only Indian to have won gold medal in the World Athletics Championship, being held in Hungary’s Budapest. With this, the Chopra completed his historic double as he became the only player to win gold in both championships – Olympics as well as World Athletics Championship. The crowed could been roaring in celebration & jubilation as he hurled javelin at 88.17 meter.

Nadeem secured second rank and won silver medal at the championship. He also looked cheerful while both posed for the cameras.

Neeraj’s act sends netizens in overdrive

Neeraj’s historic feat at WAC also sent the Twitter into overdrive, as netizens swarmed the micro-blogging portal to wish Indian wrestler’s significant achievement.

His photo-op with Pakistani rival drew admiration & praise from many quarters including the Pakistani handles.

A couple of Pakistani Twitter handles also praised Neeraj Chopra for showing ‘big heart’ and inviting the rival player to the podium to share stage with him.

“I am so proud of Neeraj and Arshad Nadeem both are proud of Asia but Neeraj is amazing no doubt respect and love India Pakistan (sic),” wrote a X user.
