PCB hits back with ‘legal consequences!’ after the Harris Rauf controversy triggers social media outrage

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has hit out at the fan who was seen hurling abuses at Haris Rauf.

New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has hit out at the fan who was seen hurling abuses at Haris Rauf. The Pakistani bowler was strolling with his wife when out of the blue moon a fan came up with strong ‘opinions’ which turned into a nasty outpour of abuses.

As the video found itself in the booklet of viral videos, fans and cricketers have developed some strong opinions both in favour and against the Pakistani bowler. Moreover, many Pakistani cricketers and ex-cricketers have come up with strong statements to back Rauf.

“Those who are involved must immediately apologise to Haris Rauf…”- PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi

Amidst this hocus pocus, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has stated the dire consequences if the fan does not apologise to Rauf.

Rauf himself took to the X (formerly Twitter) and issued an official statement that said:

What angered Rauf was not the fact that he was criticised for his bowling, but the transformation of criticism to nasty abuses. As cricketers, fans are entitled to criticise the players however they want. But those criticisms should be ‘constructive’ and not go overboard toying with the personal spaces of the cricketers.

Pakistan’s dilapidated form at the T20 World Cup: a cause of concern?

One direct consequence of such a chain reaction from the fans has been the meteoric fall of the men in green in the T20Is. A team which was the runner-up in the last edition of the T20I World Cup has fallen from its coveted position to have a crashing exit from the group stages! Pakistan lost both its group stage matches against the USA and India before winning a consolation win over Ireland.
