PV Sindhu aims Asian Games 2026 medal in Japan; Partners with Anup Sridhar

PV Sindhu will be working with Anup Sridhar for the European leg of the BWF tournaments which includes the Arctic Open and the Denmark Open.

New Delhi: After a devastating badminton season which saw a miserable Olympic outing, PV Sindhu looks to reset her badminton career. In the last 1-2 years, Sindhu’s professional career was marred by many injuries and a dwindling form. This led to a series of losses and disappointing podium misses.

Subsequently, when the Olympics came everyone was hopeful that the two-time medalist would be bouncing back in some style. However, that also didn’t materialise fruitfully as she crashed out of the tournament. Subsequently, the Indian shuttler looked to take a break from her professional career and regain her confidence. Sindhu will now aim for a medal in the upcoming Asian Games in Japan scheduled to take place in 2026.

All these recent developments in the professional career of Sindhu were confirmed by her father PV Ramana. In a recent interview with the Indian Express, Ramana said-

Sindhu has nothing left to prove, but she still thinks she can aim at the Asian Games…

The 29-year-old will be getting back into action by participating in the upcoming European season and has followed the path of fellow shuttler Lakshya Sen in her choice of coach for the tour.

Sindhu partners with Anup Sridhar!

Anup Sridhar who recently ended his stint with talented young shuttler Lakshya Sen will be guiding Sindhu in her ‘reset’ process. Sridhar had an amazing outing with Sen until January 2024. Meanwhile, Sindhu’s contract with her previous coach, Indonesia’s Agus Dwi Santoso, ended after the Olympics.

Apart from Sridhar, Park Tae-Sung of South Korea was also in consideration, but ultimately was not chosen. Speaking about the matter, Ramana revealed-

It’s not like they parted ways after a fight. It’s just that both me and Sindhu felt the partnership wasn’t working out and yielding results…

The Arctic Open which begins on October 8 and the Denmark Open which begins on October 15 will be a great opportunity for Sindhu to restart her Career 2.0 from the start.
