New Delhi: Lionel Messi off the bench to take Barca back from a goal down against Real Betis to win 3-2 but it was winger Francisco Trincao heroic to took away the victory for the club. Barcelona now has extended their winning streak by being unbeaten in 11 straight games (6 in La Liga). Barca has maintained their second spot in the standings behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
1st Half
1st half of the game started with some bad news for Barça as Ronald Araujo suffered an injury in first 10 minutes of the game. Frenkie De Jong played as a central defender replacing Ronald. Betis’s defense didn’t have much to worry about as their midfielders were having trouble finding the forward players and couldn’t hold off the ball.
Barça did produce a good chance with an anticipating cross from Jordi Alba to find Lenglet but the Frenchman somehow missed his header. However, Betis took the chance and scored an opener, as Borja Iglesias scores from the cross created by Emerson.
2nd Half
Messi, Trincão, and Pedro were brought off the bench after few minutes of the second half. The trio made a huge impact and looked dangerous with the ball. A much-needed equalizer came at the 59th minute of the game after Messi puts the ball in the bottom corner. Barça’s players were put to ease with an own goal by Victor Ruíz. Barça couldn’t maintain their lead as Victor Ruíz scored a powerful header from the set-piece.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen made really important saves as Betis was not done after scoring the second goal. As the game entered the final five minutes it looked as though it was set for a draw, but the left-footer Trincão scored a winning goal before the final whistle, ending a highly entertaining game as the clash between two teams were impressive.
