Rohan Jaitley retains DDCA presidency; Siddharth Verma to be new Secretary

Rohan Jaitley defeated senior advocate Vikas Singh by a massive margin to be re-elected as DDCA president while Siddharth upstaged his rival candidate Vinod Tihara for the post. The counting concluded last night.

New Delhi: Rohan Jaitley, the son of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley, is set to remain the president of Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) for second term while former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma’s son & 1st class cricketer Siddharth Verma will be the new DDCA secretary.

Rohan Jaitley defeated senior advocate Vikas Singh by a massive margin to be re-elected as DDCA president while Siddharth upstaged his rival candidate Vinod Tihara for the post. The counting concluded last night.

Contesting for the president’s post, Rohan Jaitley got 1658 votes while Singh could only get 662.

“It is a great victory for me personally. I would like to extend all my co-operation towards Rohan and work for betterment of Delhi cricket. I have been a cricketer and working for their cause would be priority,” Verma, a former DDCA senior selector and BCCI sub-committee member, told newsmen.

Last year, Rohan Jaitley was elected unopposed DDCA president as the lone candidate had opted out of race and withdrew his candidature.

It was the second time that Vikas Singh suffered defeat for the president post. Last time, Singh had lost to senior journalist Rajat Sharma, 3 years ago.

Siddharth Verma pips Tihara for Secy post

Siddharth Verma, youngest son of Sahib Singh Verma upstaged his rival candidate Vinod Tihara and will now be the new DDCA secretary.

Siddharth Verma’s campaign for the secretary post also earned support from cricketers like Virender Sehwag, actor Parveen Dabas & rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh.

Verma fought as an independent candidate and upstaged Tihara by 618 votes.

Gambhir’s maternal uncle is DDCA’s new treasurer

Gautam Gambhir’s maternal uncle Pawan Ghulati won the election and will be the new treasurer of DDCA.

Former BCCI acting president CK Khanna’s wife Shashi Khanna retained her vice-president’s post.
