Sachin Tendulkar’s 22-feet-tall iconic sculpture gets unveiled at Wankhede | Video

The sculpture is 22 feet tall in height and shows the cricketer hitting his favorite lofted shot that he played against Australia’s late legendary spin blower Shane Warne.

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and ace Batsman Sachin Tendulkar was immortalized inside his own home ground Wankhede Stadium as his defined statue was unveiled on November 1st in Mumbai.

The eye-catching statue captures the master blaster in action while playing one of his favorite cricketing shots. It is placed right next to Sachin Tendulkar’s stand in the Wankhede Stadium.

Although the Initial plans were to unveil the statue on Sachin’s 50th birthday (24 April), the same was postponed as the maker Pramod Kamble was unable to complete the finishing work of the statue by that time.

The Statue serves as a remarkable tribute to Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar whose monumental cricketing career and priceless contribution to Indian cricket earned him the status of “God” of cricket.

Its crafter Pramod Kamble, who hails from Ahmednagar, is a veteran painter-sculptor and has been a big fan of the cricketer since his childhood.

Sachin’s family attends the event

The grand event of the unveiling ceremony of Sachin Tendulkar’s statue was attended by a number of prominent dignitaries including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Ashish Shelar, and various other senior rank officials of Mumbai Cricket Association (MSA) including Amol Kale and Ajinkya Nayak.

Besides that, Tendulkar’s family members including his wife Anjali and daughter Sara were also present in the Stadium during the unveiling of the star cricketer’s statue.

‘Sachin Sachin’ chants resonate in Wankhede

As the statue finally got unveiled, the good old chats of “Sachin Sachin” resonated all over the Wankhede, giving everyone a much-needed doze of Nostalgia.
