New Delhi: The men in blue, were the happiest man on Thursday, as they registered their second-only ODI series win against the Proteas in South Africa.
The win was even sweeter as the last time they visited the Rainbow Nation, they were humiliated with a 3-0, whitewash in 2022.
With the series level at 1-1, after the two matches, India needed someone to step up in the third ODI to complete their revenge.
However, India, who was asked to bat first by the South African skipper after winning the toss, were in deep trouble as they lost both their openers inside the 50 runs mark until walked in the man of the hour Sanju Samson.
Sanju Samson, who, despite performing well continuously in the domestic circuit, is often overlooked by the BCCI selection committee, so when he was named in 15 members squad list for the ODI series against the Proteas, with some of the big names absent, Sanju knew he has to bring out his best game, in order to secure his spot in the team, and on Thursday, the right-handed batsman did just that.

Sanju recorded his maiden One Day International century, as he scored an impressive 108 runs in 114 deliveries, with the help of six boundaries and three sixes.

Sanju’s gallant innings helped India post a huge total against the South African bowling attack on a tough batting pitch, which later resulted in their match and series win.
