New Delhi: Pakistan’s former cricketer Shahid Afridi has come in line of fire of netizens over sharing video of a bull, getting ready for ‘qurbani’ at his residence.

A lot many netizens took to their Twitter handles and called out the cricketer for trying to create a spectacle on Bakrid. Some asked the cricketer to show restraint while celebrating the festival and not play into the hands of religious fanatics while others asked him to not flaunt his cruelty & brutality on voiceless animals.

The video has gone viral on social media and is drawing many reactions from netizens.

Notably, the Muslim community is celebrating the festival of Bakrid today, in which animals, ‘bakras’ in particular are sacrificed.

What the viral video is about

In the viral video, Shahid Afridi is seen walking in the garden with a large-sized bull. The bull, reportedly a rare breed was to be sacrificed today at his residence, to celebrate the festival.

This is not the first time that former Pakistani cricketer has flaunted ‘qurbani bulls’. Earlier also, he & his NGO gained spotlight for picking rare breed bulls for slaughter on Bakrid.

His NGO bought bulls in the past, with donated money and received flak for the same. Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was also dragged into the controversy then, as he was among the contributors to his NGO.

How users blasted ex-Pak cricketer

On a day when people celebrate the festival by extending wishes & greetings, the ostentatious display of cruelty & tyranny on voiceless animals by Shahid Afridi, invited angry reactions from many netizens.

A couple of users slammed the Pakistani cricketer for ‘vulgar display of power’ while others gave a shout out to animal activist groups like PETA to speak up on such cruetly.
