New Delhi: As the Indian men’s hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh saved the 13th penalty corner of Germany in the final seconds to win the Bronze medal match, netizens flooded the internet with wishes.

Hailing Sreejesh as ‘THE WALL’ after his brilliant effort throughout the Olympics it is being stated that it is the rebirth of the sports in the country. It took 41 years for India to win another medal at the Olympics as team India defeated Germany 5-4 to bag the bronze medal at the Oi Hockey Stadium — North Pitch.

Simranjeet Singh and Harmanpreet Singh each scored braces while Rupinder Pal Singh scored in a penalty stroke for India. On the other hand, Germany desperately tried to win over India but somehow Sreejesh ‘THE WALL’ kept his cool to defend the last penalty corner.

Germany’s Timor Oruz, Niklas Wellen, Benedikt Furk and Lukas Windfeder scored for the team and made the match interesting till the end.

“It’s a rebirth. That’s it. It’s been 41 years. In 1980 we won the last medal and after that, nothing and today when we won it, this gives a boost and gives a energy to the youngsters to pick up hockey and play this game,” said Sreejesh to Olympics.com after the historic win.
