New Delhi: In a heart touching moment, a video of Ukraine’s Roman Yaremchuk, who was moved to tears after he was given a standing ovation from Benfica supporters on Sunday, during their Primeira Liga clash against Vitoria SC has gone viral.
Although, the Ukrainian striker was not the part of the playing XI but came on as a substitute in the 62nd-minute and was also given the captain’s armband.
But it was during this moment that the Benfica fans applauded him in support of his home country, which has been invaded by Russia. Benfica won the match by a 3-0 score at the Estadio da Luz.
In the video, Yaremchuk can be seen getting the captain’s armband by defender Jan Vertonghen in a show of solidarity.
