14 years of Virat Kohli’s debut: Netizens share clips, pictures to celebrate batter’s journey

Virat shared a reel compiling some iconic moments from his international career and wrote, “14 years ago, it all started and it’s been an honour,” with the Indian flag in the caption.

New Delhi: Virat Kohli made his international debut on 18 August 2008 against Sri Lanka, and it has been a historic journey since then. From leading India to U-19 World Cup victory to winning the 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy, and leading India to be the number 1 Test side, he has achieved a lot.

On his debut, Virat failed to make a mark as he was dismissed by Nuwan Kulasekara for 12 runs. But he came back and made a lasting impression with a 37 and 25 in the next two ODIs. It was the 4th ODI of the tour where he scored his maiden half-century, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Kohli’s IPL franchise also shared a tweet saying, “Virat Kohli’s ODI record speaks for itself.”

Even though Virat has some years of his career ahead, he is still referred to as a legend by cricket fans.

His stats are something any cricketer would be envious of.

Cricket Australia shared his mesmerising knock in Hobart, which defined his character as the finest run-chaser in the history of the game.

Virat is on a break from the game as India faces Zimbabwe. Next, he will be seen playing in the Asia Cup 2022 starting on August 27.
