New Delhi: Today marks the Eliminator versus Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League season 14. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli earlier declared that he would retire from the captaincy after this year’s match.

Fans and colleagues were eager to know the reason behind it. Kohli finally came in front of the public to declare the reason for his retirement.

Kohli claimed that the biggest reason for him retiring from the captaincy of RCB is excessive workload and he did not want to be dishonest towards his responsibility.

“Firstly workload was the main factor and I did want to be dishonest towards my responsibility. If I cannot give 120% to something, I am not someone who would hold onto something, I am not attached to something like that and that was always very clear in my mind,” said Kohli while speaking on Star Sports.

Kolhi has been the RCB captain since 2013. However, he has failed to lead the team to baf the IPL title.

Earlier, he said in a statement that this year would be Kolhi’s last time as RCB captain. However, he would continue to play for the team till he plays his last IPL. He further, thanked all his fans for their support and warm wishes.

“This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me,” said Virat Kohli.
