Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s t-shirt broke all charts in the auction market and was sold for a whopping Rs 40,00,000 in a recent charity event organised by KL Rahul.

New Delhi: In a recent charity event organised by cricketer KL Rahul and her wife Athiya Shetty called ‘Cricket for a Cause’, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s signed t-shirt broke all charts in the auction market and was sold for a whopping Rs 40,00,000. Apart from Kohli’s jersey, his signed batting gloves also grabbed the headlines which was sold for Rs 28,00,000.

Current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was not far behind as his signed bat was sold for Rs 24,00,000 while his signed gloves were sold for Rs 7,50,000. Former Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s bat was sold for Rs 13,00,000 while his signed gloves went under the hammer for Rs 3,50,000.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah’s jersey was sold at Rs 8,00,000 while former India team’s coach Rahul Dravid’s signed cricket bat was sold at Rs 11,00,000. The auction collected an estimated Rs 1.93 crores which will be put to use for worthy causes.

What is the ‘Cricket for a Cause’?

The ‘Cricket for a Cause’ is a charity venture undertaken by KL Rahul and her wife Athiya Shetty to help the Vipla Foundation. In a recent social media post by Athiya Shetty, the Bollywood actress revealed her latest venture. Shetty wrote, “Rahul and I are very excited to announce our first charity auction, ‘Charity for a Cause’ to benefit Vipla Foundation.”

Athiya further added that all the remuneration which will be accrued from the charity will go towards the Vipla Foundation which helps the hearing impaired and intellectually disabled. The venture was started by Shetty’s grandmother and has remained close to her heart. Finally, Athiya urged everyone to spread the word about Vipla and even support the auction which has bee done for a noble cause.
