Virendra Sehwag shares meme on Chahal’s ‘drunken player’ charge, draws ire of netizens

However, when he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, he faced an unsavoury incident after a player got drunk.

New Delhi: Yuzvendra Chahal has been part of the new franchise in the Indian Premier League this season and is enjoying his days quite well. Currently playing for Rajasthan Royals, Chahal has managed to perform well and has taken wickets at regular intervals as well. So far in IPL 2022, he has seven wickets in three matches and will definitely continue to scalp more.

Off the field, Chahal is a much-loved guy and all thanks to his easy-going attitude. However, when he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, he faced an unsavoury incident after a player got drunk.

In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on Twitter, Chahal along with Karun Nair and Ravichandran Ashwin narrated their “comeback stories.”

During the interactive session, Chahal Ashwin and Nair that, “My story, some people know about. I have never spoken about this, I never shared this. In 2013, I was with the Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bengaluru. There was a get together after that. There was a player who was very drunk, I will not take his name. He was very drunk; he was looking at me and he just called me. He took me outside and he dangled me from the balcony.”

He added, “My hands were around him. Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and got the situation under control. I kind of fainted. They gave me water, then I realised how responsible you should be if you go out anywhere. So, this was one incident where I felt I made a narrow escape. Had there been the slightest of mistake, I would have fallen down.”

Interestingly, Virendra Sehwag has shared a shot from ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ resembling the situation and wrote, “Important to reveal name of player who as per Chahal did this to him in a drunk state. If true, this cannot be treated as fun, important to know what happened and what action was taken considering the seriousness of this.”

Though Sehwag said that the situation should not be treated as fun, his post carrying a shot from the comedy film has made him face criticism. Several netizens have pointed out and reacted to his post.

One of the users wrote, “Believe me it’s not funny! How much ‘serious’ it’s to you can be understood from this,” while another commented, “Not everything is a chance for you to get clout pal. Stop memeing everything.”
